Become a Tutor
Tutor applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now available!
Step 1: Application
SHINE Academics is always looking for new tutors to join our team! If you are enthusiastic about helping others and are familiar with elementary and/or high school math, we would love to hear from you!
Each week, we meet on Tuesdays at the Halifax North Memorial Library from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays at the Dartmouth North Public Library from 5:00-7:00 p.m., for tutoring sessions. We strive for excellence in our efforts and hope to find others that share in this passionate initiative to Support, Help, and Inspire through Non-profit Education.
Step 2: Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check
Once your application has been processed and you have been invited to join SHINE Academics as a tutor, you will need to complete a mandatory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. The library will invite you to do this through mybackcheck.com, so keep an eye on your email, as the invitations are time sensitive.
Find detailed instructions here! If you have any questions about this process, please email email@example.com.
Step 3: The Match
We want to ensure both students and tutors have a successful and enjoyable experience with SHINE Academics. Sometimes matching student-tutor pairs takes time because we not only take grade level into consideration, but interpersonal factors as well. We appreciate your patience in this!
Once you're all setup, keep track of scheduling by visiting the online SHINE Schedule!
If you have questions about your match, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
