Math and science are often demanding subjects throughout the elementary, junior high, and high school curriculum, but are necessary for the overall success of all students. Recognizing the financial burden of supplementary education in the form of private tutoring sessions (often upwards of $30/hr), the founders of SHINE saw a need for affordable and accessible academic support in HRM and beyond. Gathering a handful of volunteers, SHINE aimed to support students in these challenging subjects and to offer this support completely free of charge!
We are university students and young professionals that have elected to donate our time and energy in support of the academic success of our local youth.

We are currently accepting applications for Block A (September - December 2020). Most sessions are being held online, with a limited number of in-person spots available following regulations put forward by the Nova Scotia government and Halifax Public Libraries.
